Construction/Utilities/Contracting The Structural Inspector I/II performs inspections of all types of commercial, industrial, public, and residential buildings throughout the construction phase for code compliance.
LUT is accepting applications for candidates who meet the minimum qualifications for the Inspector I and Inspector II classifications. Both positions are a part of the Inspector Series meaning LUT can underfill the Inspector II position at the Inspector I level. Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills; listening, speaking, and the ability to articulate complex information to other staff as well as to contractors and to the public. The successful candidate will have the ability to be a team player working closely with those on the inspection team, and follow Building Services procedures in and out of the office. They need to have the experience and capacity to read and interpret complex commercial structural plans. They will also have the ability to self manage time, inspection route, and workload while working individually in the field. The ideal candidate is also open to learning and working with new technology and software that is required to complete inspections and record inspection results.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Inspector I
Education and Experience:
- Two (2) years of construction or inspection related work experience; OR
- An approved one-year inspection-related education program AND one (1) year of construction or inspection related work experience; OR
- An Associate's Degree from an approved inspection-related education program or its equivalent.
Additional Requirements:
- Oregon Residential Structural Inspector Certification; OR
- Oregon Inspector Certification (OIC) AND International Code Council (ICC) certification as a Residential Building Inspector.
- Must be able to obtain all required certifications within six (6) months of appointment.
- A driver's license valid in the State of Oregon and have an acceptable driving record per Washington County policy.
Inspector II
Education and Experience:
- Three (3) years of building construction or inspection related work experience; OR
- An approved one-year inspection-related education program AND two (2) years of building construction or inspection related work experience; OR
- An Associate's Degree from an approved building inspection related education program or its equivalent; AND one (1) year of construction or inspection related work experience; OR
- Registration as an Oregon architect or a certified Oregon professional engineer, or have a Bachelor's or Master's Degree in architecture or civil or structural engineering.
Additional Requirements:
- Possession of the required certifications per The State of Oregon:
- Oregon Residential Structural Inspector Certification;?OR Oregon Inspector Certification (OIC)?AND?International Code Council (ICC) certification as a Residential Building Inspector AND
- International Code Council certification as a Commercial Building Inspector OR State of Oregon Commercial Building Inspector certification AND
- International Code Council certification as a Commercial Mechanical Inspector OR State of Oregon Commercial Mechanical Inspector certification
- Must possess a driver's license valid in the State of Oregon and have an acceptable driving record per Washington County policy.
