Job Title: Volunteer and Community Engagement Manager

Reports to: Program Director

Job Specifics: Full time at 40 hours per week, salary

Compensation: $58,700-$65,000 annually

Benefits: Full health and vision insurance (Providence) and dental insurance (Moda). Option to add dependents at employee's pre-tax expense. Path Home will contribute an amount equal to 2% of employee's total annual salary into a Simple IRA. Eligible for Employee Assistance Fund and paid Sabbatical after 7 years.

Paid Time Off: Three weeks of Paid Time Off (120 hours) plus one week of Paid Sick Time (40 hours) annually. Path Home also recognizes 11 paid holidays throughout the year.

Position Overview:

Path Home’s volunteer program brings together over 400 committed individuals, families, faith communities, and businesses to provide support to Path Home’s programs. The Volunteer and Community Engagement Manager will oversee daily operations, coordination, and support of the program, working to enhance its infrastructure to meet the needs of a growing organization and foster meaningful community connections.

The Volunteer and Community Engagement Manager is responsible for cultivating and maintaining a robust, values-aligned volunteer program that supports Path Home’s mission and builds strong partnerships with the local community. This role will oversee volunteer recruitment, training, retention, and recognition, while also coordinating meaningful experiences for corporate and community partners. The Manager will collaborate closely with the Program Director and Director of Development to ensure alignment across Path Home programs, organizational events, and community partnerships.

Specific Job Duties:

Volunteer Management

  • Oversee and improve Path Home’s Volunteer Program, ensuring ideal staffing levels with trained and equipped volunteers.
  • Manage all aspects of volunteer engagement, including recruitment, onboarding, training, retention, and recognition, ensuring consistent communication, guidance, and support through each volunteer engagement.
  • Represent Path Home’s mission in a way that attracts long-term volunteer commitment and fosters genuine community involvement.
  • Create, maintain, and manage digital content, scheduling platforms, and other volunteer materials.
  • Regularly check the volunteer schedule for staffing and accuracy, including making phone calls to on-call volunteers when shifts are not filled.  
  • Communicate meal logistics to volunteers and track meal-related information (menu, dietary needs, food handlers’ cards). 
  • Organize regular volunteer retention events, including appreciation parties, socials, and continuing education workshops to foster community and recognition.
  • Coordinate volunteer schedules to meet programming needs, providing oversight during shifts and sometimes working alongside volunteers.
  • Train staff in volunteer management best practices, facilitating clear communication to ensure a successful integration of volunteers on-site.
  • Cultivate and nourish a positive organizational culture that values volunteers as essential contributors, enhancing support for families and staff.
  • Develop annual volunteer budget and produce comprehensive monthly and annual reports on volunteer engagement and program impact.

Community & Corporate Engagement

  • Collaborate with the Development team, build and nurture relationships with corporate partners by facilitating meaningful volunteer opportunities tailored to organizational needs and partner interests.
  • Lead volunteer staffing and logistics for Path Home events, including Holiday Village, quarterly shelter events, and the Family Reunion Fundraiser. Assist in donor and corporate partner events as needed.
  • Coordinate episodic group volunteer activities, collaborating with internal teams to identify priority projects and ensure smooth execution.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 2-3+ years of volunteer coordination or similar experience in relationship management
  • Ability to bend, kneel, squat, reach, and occasionally lift up to 25 pounds
  • Familiarity with computers and basic software, including Volgistics, Google Drive, MS Word, and Excel
  • Experience working with individuals or families experiencing homelessness and a knowledge of local social services is a plus
  • Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends as required
