Washington County's Information Technology Services Department is seeking an Enterprise Applications Supervisor to join the Enterprise Systems Division team! The Opportunity 
This role involves supervising the Enterprise Application and Solutions Engineering team, which consists of technical professionals responsible for developing and supporting a majority of the server and cloud-based applications used at Washington County. Technical expertise in software development, process improvement, modernization, databases, and major project implementation are all key components in the daily responsibilities of this role. This position is also responsible for overseeing personnel and engaging in long-term strategic planning.

This position may be eligible for a hybrid work schedule.


Responsibilities Include

  1. Planning, prioritizing, assigning, supervising, and reviewing the work of assigned staff performing a variety of work activities within the Systems Administration section of the Information Services Division.
  2. Coordinating and evaluating complex section operations and activities; recommending and implementing improvements and modifications; and preparing various reports on operations and activities for management.
  3. Participating in the selection of staff; providing or coordinating staff training; assisting employees to correct deficiencies; and assisting in implementing discipline procedures.
  4. Providing technical support and expert consultation to assist staff in completion of work and associated activities, as needed; monitoring activities and progress; and coordinating completion of scheduled activities and projects.
  5. Assisting in creating a positive and supportive work environment; enforcing a safe workplace; establishing a culture of teamwork and communication; creating a workplace that promotes the organizational values of workplace diversity, equity and inclusion and actively promotes an environment respectful of living and working in a multicultural society.
  6. Providing leadership and direction to staff, engaging with staff to provide performance evaluations, and completing performance evaluations based on work standards. Recommending appropriate personnel action to management and providing feedback and coaching employees to improve performance concerns or deficiencies. 
  7. Consulting with management regarding systems and service delivery needs; monitoring work activities; and assisting team(s) in achieving customer service and quality standards within assigned functional area(s). 
  8. Attending meetings, conferences, and trainings and reviewing publications and industry documentation to stay informed and remain current on IT trends, solutions, principles, best practices, and new developments in assigned work areas. Partnering with others to share ideas and resources, identifying systems and workflows that can be optimized, and helping set operation and project priorities within the team.
  9. Providing input on budget and annual review of service delivery activities.


The Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate for this position is a technology leader with strong skills in managing a diverse application support program that encompasses both third-party and internally developed applications. They should possess exceptional technical capabilities in a Microsoft environment and demonstrate leadership skills to oversee and direct technical professionals, while also effectively communicating with executive-level stakeholders. Proficiency in change management, teamwork, collaboration, and transparency are essential skills for success in this role.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience:

  • Nine (9) years of experience providing professional level information technology analysis and support. Two (2) of the years of experience must be supervising other information technology professionals. OR
  • An Associate degree in computer science, business administration, or related field; AND seven (7) years of experience providing professional level information technology analysis and support. Two (2) of the years of experience must be supervising other information technology professionals. OR
  • A Bachelor’s degree in computer science, business administration, or related field; AND five (5) years of experience providing professional level information technology analysis and support. Two (2) of the years of experience must be supervising other information technology professionals.
