The Learning and Development team is dedicated to planning, leading, and developing impactful training programs. We collaborate with departments to consult on their training needs, ensuring that all initiatives are effective, engaging, and tailored to drive growth and success across the organization.
 
Some key duties for this position include:

  • Designing, implementing, and coordinating professional development and compliance training programs on a department-wide basis, and ensuring that training programs are aligned with department and County goals and objectives; and designing and developing participant materials.
  • Organizing training schedules, communications, and logistics; analyzing, maintaining, and preparing training records, reports, and related statistical data on participant evaluations.
  • Participating in and conducting new employee orientation
  • Coordinating required compliance training as part of the on-boarding process for new employees.
  • Preparing and providing periodic training reports and statistical data to managers that give updates on training activities.
  • Researching and coordinating external training resources with other departments, agencies, and/or organizations. Evaluates content, delivery, and overall effectiveness of the external training resources and programs. 
  • Modifying training curriculum and content as needed to meet the department goals and objectives.
  • Partnering with County Learning and Development Manager in the development, implementation, coordination, and delivery of supervisory, management, and leadership training modules such as supervisory skills, effective communication, conflict resolution strategies and techniques, performance management, decision making, problem solving, and other County-wide training initiatives.
  • Researching new developments, issues, and trends in workforce training. Writing or revising procedures, handbooks, or training materials; compiles and analyzes statistical reports to help determine emerging trends and patterns in staffing activities; and evaluating current policies or procedures and recommends change, as needed.
  • Maintaining a resource log of instructors and other training resources, serves as liaison for the department on County training committees, and attends related meetings.

Our ideal candidate is a skilled communicator with a strong ability to design and facilitate engaging training programs. They excel in project management, adapt quickly to changing needs, and enjoy not only doing research, but creating appealing ways for learners to understand their messages. They are proficient in adult learning theory, learning management systems, online training tools and  content creation software.  They do not shy aware from ambiguous situations and are open to giving and receiving feedback. Experience with content creation and editing software (i.e. Camtasia, Articulate 360, Adobe Captivate, etc.) is strongly preferred.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in business or public administration, training and development, organizational development, human resource management, or a related field AND two (2) years of professional experience working with groups and individuals as a trainer, educator, career development coach or consultant, or facilitator; OR
  • Associates degree in business or public administration, training and development, organizational development, human resource management, or a related field AND four (4) years of professional experience working with groups and individuals as a trainer, educator, career development coach or consultant, or facilitator; OR
  • Six (6) years of professional experience working with groups and individuals as a trainer, educator, career development coach or consultant, or facilitator.
