Path Home empowers families with children to get back into housing and to stay there. Our programs work: 87% of families keep their housing long term. Programs include Outreach, Family Village Shelter, Rapid Re-Housing, Prevention, and Basic Income Guarantee. Annually, Path Home provides culturally competent, trauma-informed services to more than 550 families. 

Path Home believes that intentional, systematic racism and oppression are primary causes of homelessness, and we are working to dismantle systems of oppression within our own organization and the community as a whole. Job Title: Donor Relations Officer (externally) 

Reports to: Development Director

Job Specifics: Full time (40 hours per week), salaried 

Compensation: $75,000-$90,000 annually depending on experience

Benefits: Full health and vision insurance (Providence), and dental insurance (Delta). Option to add family at employee's pre-tax expense. Path Home will contribute an amount equal to 2% of employee's total annual salary into a Simple IRA. Employee Assistance fund, paid Sabbatical after 7 years, and paid bereavement leave.  

Paid Time Off:  Three weeks of Paid Time Off (120 hours) plus one week of paid sick time (40 hours) annually. Path Home also recognizes 11 paid holidays throughout the year.

Overview

As a growing, innovative organization, Path Home is excited to expand our Development Team with a relationship manager focused on qualifying and cultivating donors who have capacity to make a major gift. This work is essential to the success of our second capital campaign to build affordable housing and a co-located services center to our Family Village Campus. This expansion centers the principles of trauma-informed design and care that made Path Home’s first capital campaign to build Family Village Shelter so successful. 

Path Home has emerged from the pandemic in a position of financial and programmatic strength and are well-positioned for the future, with a strong, committed donor base and proven fundraising program. 

This position is ideal for someone who thrives on building authentic relationships, connecting people to a cause, and creating meaningful experiences for donors. You’ll work closely with a passionate and supportive team to grow the number of major donors supporting Path Home, serving more as a fundraising specialist than generalist.

Specific Job Duties

  • Build and nurture authentic relationships with a portfolio of approximately 90 individual and institutional donors, focusing on gifts of $5,000 and above.
  • Spend the majority of your time connecting with donors via in-person meetings, phone calls, email, notes, and events. 
  • Lead our prospect management strategy, qualifying capital campaign prospects and assigning major gift portfolios. 
  • Work closely with our Executive Director and Development Director to create tailored experiences that align with each donor’s passions and values.
  • Support capital campaign efforts by partnering with internal teams and external consultants to execute each phase of the campaign with precision and enthusiasm, including events and communications strategies. 
  • Partner with the Development Manager and Director of Community Engagement to identify and create win-win partnerships with corporate supporters and prospects. 
  • Customize donor communications to ensure that messaging is aligned with each individual’s motivations, while maintaining ethical storytelling and community-centric principles.
  • Collaborate with the programs team to identify funding needs, opportunities, and stories that resonate with donors.
  • Ensure accurate entry of donor data within our CRM (Donor Perfect) for seamless prospect and relationship management.
  • Engage the Board of Directors in meaningful donor stewardship and prospecting efforts.
  • Co-create annual fundraising plan and strategy with development team.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 4+ years of experience in fundraising or a related area like sales.
  • Track record of closing large gifts or sales. 
  • Comfort working with Microsoft Office, Google Drive, and CRMs.
  • Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends as required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in the nonprofit sector, particularly with organizations addressing homelessness or related human services, with a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Demonstrated commitment to community centric fundraising. 
  • Deep understanding of how systemic inequities can lead to families from marginalized groups experiencing homelessness at a disproportionately higher rate than dominant groups.
